Developing With a Passion While Exploring The World.
Janet began her academic journey at Sidok Primary School, before joining Ng’iya Girls High School. Janet earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Maasai Mara University, and later pursued both her Master’s Degree and PhD at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China, equipping her with global knowledge and expertise to address local development challenges.
Professionally, Janet has served as a Lecturer at Maasai Mara University, where she mentored and inspired future professionals. She also worked as a Conservationist with the Ewaso Ng’iro South River Basin Development Authority, contributing to environmental conservation and sustainable resource management. Her passion for grassroots transformation saw her serve as a Grassroots Mobilizer at TASARU Rescue Center in Narok, empowering vulnerable communities through community-driven initiatives.
Janet is also an experienced leader in community and private sector development. She serves as the Secretary of Uranga Moyie Self Help Group in Uranga, is the Chief Executive Officer of LUILEX Enterprises Ltd, and chairs KAROY Siaya Community Development Partners (KASCODEP) CBO, where she has championed community empowerment, social inclusion, and sustainable development initiatives.
As the Woman Representative Aspirant for Siaya County, Janet Onyango brings together academic excellence, international exposure, professional experience, and a deep understanding of grassroots needs. She is committed to championing the rights of women, youth, the elderly, persons living with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups while promoting education, economic empowerment, quality healthcare, climate resilience, and accountable leadership for a prosperous Siaya.

Social Protection, Healthcare & Justice for All
Every resident of Siaya deserves to live with dignity, safety, and equal opportunity. My administration will champion the rights of women, girls, persons living with disabilities, the elderly, orphans, vulnerable families, and reformed ex-convicts by strengthening social protection programs, improving access to justice, and ensuring no one is left behind. Special attention will be given to preventing gender-based violence, protecting children, promoting rehabilitation, and restoring hope to marginalized groups.
Economic Empowerment, Education & Youth Development
A prosperous Siaya begins with empowered people. I will prioritize education, practical skills development, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities for women and young people by supporting community learning initiatives, mentorship programs, vocational training, and access to finance. My vision is to transform education beyond the classroom by creating opportunities that equip every resident with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in today’s economy. To unlock Siaya’s economic potential, I will champion women and youth-led businesses and expand opportunities within the creative economy.
Sustainable Agriculture, Environment & Inclusive Community Development
My commitment is to build resilient communities that thrive through sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, and responsible management of natural resources. I will support climate-smart farming, strengthen farmers’ access to technology, markets, and training, and encourage innovation that improves food security while helping communities adapt to climate change. At the same time, I will advocate for inclusive environmental governance that ensures women, youth, and local communities participate in decisions affecting natural resources.
